Residential spaces in San Vicente are not metered for water, nor does any resident pay for water. With that said, all residents must find and create ways to cut back on water usage.
We are asking all residents:
- NO HOSING DOWN DRIVEWAYS
- NO WASHING OR POWER WASHING HOMES (UNLESS PREPARING TO PAINT)
- ONLY WATER IN THE EARLY MORNING OR LATE AFTERNOON
- ONLY WATER 2 DAYS A WEEK. (CHECK AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS AND RESET)
- CHECK ALL SPRINKLERS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE WATERING THE PLANTS NOT THE STREET)
- DON’T OVERWATER – WATER SHOULD NEVER RUN DOWN THE STREET
- HAVE A SHUT-OFF NOZZLE ON EACH HOSE
- GO TO THE LOCAL CARWASH WHERE THEY RECYCLE WATER
- NO CAR WASHING IN DRIVEWAYS OR STREET (CAR WASH IS CLOSED AT THE MAINTANENCE YARD)
There are many other ways to cut back water usage:
- Plant California native shrubs that are drought tolerant
- Remove plants that need lots of water
- Xeriscaping – drought tolerant gardening
- Turn off and empty all ornamental fountains
- Take short showers – get wet – turn shower off – lather up – then rinse
- Collect shower water while waiting for the hot water
- Use water in a dish pan for rinsing dishes
- Only run dishwasher when full
- Only wash clothes with a full load
- Turn the water off when brushing your teeth
- Turn the water off while shaving
Please come up with more ways to save our water! Every drop counts and it will take all residents to make a difference. Please be a good neighbor and do your part. We have stopped watering the open grass areas and only water around the clubhouse 2 mornings a week. We installed pull chain water shut off in the showers at the pool.
Let’s work together to save water. If you see a neighbor watering mid-day, please remind them to water in the morning. It takes all of us to make a difference.
Thanks,
Stuart Clyde
